Zealot is an Australian comedy podcast about cults, as defined arbitrarily by host Jo Thornely. From the tragic end of Jonestown to the incredible space fashion of the Unarius Academy of Science to the "advanced spiritualism" of Full Circle (founded by 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU pretty boy Andrew Keegan), Jo and a guest host cover the ins and outs of a new cult every episode.
At Toronto True Crime, Jo will be joined by local comedian Natalie Norman for Zealot's very first live show!
ABOUT THE HOSTS:
Jo Thornely is the host of Zealot and author of a book by the same name. She's written for the mainstream media, the middle-stream media, and a few woke puddles, and is obsessed with true crime. Jo is too polite to start her own cult.
Natalie Norman is a Toronto-based stand-up comedian, podcaster, storyteller, and Jewess. Outrageous, witty, and often political, Natalie hosts weekly LGBTQ+, feminist-friendly show The Crimson Wave at Comedy Bar and co-hosts the menstruation-themed Crimson Wave Podcast. The Crimson Wave was an instrumental force in the Canadian Menstruators’ #NoTaxOnTampons campaign, writing and starring in the viral video to promote and spread awareness on the initiative to remove tax on menstruation products. The tax was successfully removed in July 2015. Natalie has performed at Just For Laughs in Montreal, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Women In Comedy Fest, Canadian Music Week, Toronto SketchFest, Feminist Arts Conference, Field Trip, and NXNE, among others. Most importantly, Natalie is a Spice Girls enthusiast who loves talking about her period.
